THE STORY BEHIND MY KEEPSAKER
It started with my mom’s jewelry box.
My Keepsaker began during a conversation with my mom about her will, her jewelry, and the stories our family should never lose.

MORE THAN A NAME ON A POST-IT NOTE
One day, I was sitting with my mom as we went through her will and talked about her jewelry. When she opened her jewelry box, I saw that she had placed handwritten Post-it notes beneath the boxes to show who should receive each piece.
My mom has 12 granddaughters and four great-granddaughters, and she has chosen a special piece of jewelry for each of them. But as she began explaining the history behind those pieces, I realized the names on the notes were only part of what needed to be preserved. What if a Post-it note came off a box or got stuck to the wrong one? How would anyone know which piece she meant, or who it was meant for?
I asked her that. She told me she had given her estate lawyer a copy of a spreadsheet listing the rings. When I asked to see it, one entry simply said “ruby ring.” I looked at her and said, “Mom, there are two ruby rings.” Even with a spreadsheet, we still needed a way to identify the exact ring she meant.
There was the ruby ring my dad gave her on their first anniversary. There was the heart necklace that survived our house fire and will one day go to my sister. Each piece held a memory, a moment, and a part of our family’s history that could never be captured by a name alone.
How was I going to remember all of these stories one day?
THERE HAD TO BE A BETTER WAY
I kept thinking about those Post-it notes and that spreadsheet. A name or a short description could get us close, but neither could show us exactly which piece she meant, where she kept it, or why it mattered. And neither could preserve the story my mom had just shared with me.
That was the moment the idea for My Keepsaker began: one organized place to photograph meaningful possessions, record their practical details, preserve the stories behind them, and document who you hope will care for them next.
BUILT FOR EVERY KIND OF KEEPSAKE
My Keepsaker is not only for jewelry, estate planning, or one stage of life. It is for family heirlooms, collections, artwork, military memories, childhood treasures, photographs, and everyday objects whose meaning cannot be measured by price alone.
It brings together the details that help you stay organized—photos, receipts, appraisals, locations, insurance information, and Future Keepers—with the memories that make each Keepsake irreplaceable. You can also export a list with images and item locations and email it to your estate lawyer, so they can see exactly which item you mean and where it is stored.
THE REASON BEHIND IT ALL
I created My Keepsaker so families would have something stronger than memory and more meaningful than a label. The practical information matters, but the story is what turns an object into a legacy.
Because the people we love will not always be here to tell us the story again—and those stories deserve a safe place to live on.
Before Keepsaker, my Adorable Essentials community taught me how much meaning small things can hold. Read my letter to the Adorable Essentials family and see the memories that helped inspire this next chapter.
